Religion with Legends, Gothic Masterpieces and Beach

If you’re a believer, but don’t have the time or opportunity to walk Caminho do Santiago, this excursion will pass through some of the most important religious points of interest of Portugal. The tour begins at the famous Fátima where the legend says that local shepherd kids were visited by an angel visited 3 times that predicted the arrival of Virgin Mary herself. On the 13th of October She arrived and was described by them as  “brighter than the sun”. She told them to pray for the war to end -WWI at the time. She also revealed 3 secrets to the children on the consecutive visits published in Lucia’s books (one of the children).

Whether the story is true or not, we know that hope had lead people to do what seem to be impossible things, so maybe this can be a reason to visit.

Our second stop will be the Monastery of Batalha, UNESCO World Heritage – a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline art, dating back from the 14th century.

The next stop will be the the Monastery of Alcobaça embellished in the Cistercian Gothic art, another UNESCO World heritage dating from the 12th century.

The last stop is Nazaré – a laid back town on the ocean side. In winter you can observe gigantic waves and maybe a surfer break a world record. In Summer you can enjoy the weather and the beach.
