Lost in a Fairytale – Sintra and Cascais Day Trip

“I must just observe, that the village of Cintra, in Estremadura, is the most beautiful perhaps in the world”., excerpt from the letter to Mr. Hodgson, on 16 July 1809, Lord Byron. And Sintra deserves that title. It looks like taken out of a fairy tale with its lush vegetation, castles, fortresses, manors, small streets and delicious pastry. It’s proximity to the ocean makes it the ideal day trip from Lisbon to combine history, nature and sea gazing.

The last stop will be Cascais – what once used to be a small fishing village has now grown into a fine town with its own beach, beautiful whitewashed architecture, small charming squares, cafés and fish restaurants.

Here’s a suggested program of the day, that can be adjusted to meet your needs and interests

9AM Accommodation Pick-up in Lisbon

10AM-11AM Visit One of the Castles of Sintra.

11.30-12.30 Visit another castle. You can visit as many castles as you’d like, let me know so I can make a suggestion accordingly.

13-14.30 LUNCH break in a restaurant serving delicious local dishes

3PM Cabo de Roca – visit the Westernmost point of the European Continent/ or Azenhas do Mar – the most picturesque white wished villages on a cliff, overlooking a natural sea water swimming pool. There might be time for both depending on how the day goes.

4-5.30PM Cascais

6-6.30PM Back to Lisbon, accommodation drop off*
